Mart van Bracht is the managing director of TNO Energy; one of the seven focus areas of TNO. In TNO Energy a staff of approximately 500 researchers is active in national, and international research & development projects regarding exploration, production and transport oil and natural gas, carbon capture & storage, sustainable energy, smart energy systems and energy efficiency. TNO Energy also comprises the Geological Survey of the Netherlands.

Mart van Bracht obtained a PhD degree in Earth Sciences at the Free University of Amsterdam. He worked his whole career at TNO. First as a researcher, later in management positions.

He holds several positions in Dutch and European networks, research centers and programme’s related to energy, sustainability and geosciences such as NERA (Netherlands Energy Research Alliance), Utrecht Sustainability Institute, KNAW Council Earth & Climate, RenQi Foundation, Helixer Foundation, Space for Geo information Foundation, ZEP EU platform (Zero Emission Platform) etc.
